About PCRMS - Don't Hate, Mediate!


PCRMS under Dr. Millicent Carvalho has developed a successful approach to conflict resolution, which utilizes several different approaches to conflict resolution as opposed to the boilerplate (one-size-fits-all) approach utilized by the majority of other conflict resolution practitioners.


 

 

Millicent Carvalho

Millicent Carvalho is interested in supporting social workers in the Philadelphia area, by coordinating events and activities that address the needs of social workers at all levels (practitioners, clinicians and academics).

Dr. Carvalho has been mediating conflicts for more than 25 years.  Her career experience includes practicing mediator, university department chair, social work professor, ombudsman, conflict resolution and violence prevention trainer, and Internet radio host.

Dr. Carvalho mediates workplace disputes for the United States Postal Service and special education disputes for the Office of Dispute Resolution, Pennsylvania Department of Education She is a volunteer Ombudsman for National Guard reservists who face workplace discrimination as part of the Employer Support for the Guard and Reserves.  She serves on the board of directors of the International Association of Restorative Justice and Deliberation formerly the Victim Offender Mediation Association and provides diversity training In addition, she was one 14 experts and practitioners of conflict resolution from 11 nations bought to Chongqing, China for an October 2009 forum titled “Responding to the Challenges of Financial Crisis and Building Social Harmony.”

Dr. Carvalho received her Ph.D. in Social Work, Master of Social Science and Master of Law and Social Policy degrees from Bryn Mawr College. In addition, she received her Master of Counselor Education degree from Boston University and B.A. degree from La Salle University.  She is licensed to practice social work in Pennsylvania and Virginia.


Brian Grevious

Brian Grevious’ career expands over 25 years and includes, Police Detective (Gold Shield), 15 years of forensic interviewing experience at various levels, experience managing, organizing and coordinating parallel investigations, former private investigator (licensed), caseworker, human services manager, Vietnam Era Veteran and former Air Force Reservist.

For over four years prior to becoming a police detective, he helped to pilot, as a part of the first team (two officers) of community foot beat officers, the community-policing program. He also has a keen understanding of human behavior and has prior experience managing personnel and human services programs.

Mr. Grevious is an active volunteer with the Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve, where he uses his mediation training and experience to assist military reservist, who believe their employers have violated USERRA Laws and Regulations, to resolve employment disputes, between soldiers and employers, before lawyers become involved.

Mr. Grevious received his Master of Arts in Human Services from Antioch University and Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University with a specialization in Management/Industrial Relations and Organizational Behavior.  He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
